Round Norfolk Relay!

Well done to Andy Cowling and Ian Davies, altogether 17 runners completed the Round Norfolk Relay in just over 26 hours, thank you to everyone who supported in many many ways, this was a proud day and a fantastic achievement for our club!
Ladies Are Champions!

Fantastic running in the 25C heat gave our star ladies team 1st place in the Green Wheel Relay. The team of 7 covered the 50 mile route round Peterborough’s cycleways in 7 hours 14 mins placing them 1st ladies and 7th team overall out of 16 teams altogether.

With 39 members running the half marathon and a further 13 in the 5k, over 50 members participated in soggy conditions in the Great Eastern Run in Peterborough. Despite the torrential rain several members obtained fantastic pbs. Thanks for the tremendous support given by members and their families from the sides, it is the support which turns a great run into a pb run! Thankyou to Free Angle photography for excellent photos before and during the race.

A great turn out of 14 Thorney members ran the New Years Eve 10k, and a further 4 members ran the Waterside 5 mile at Grafham Water on the same day. As usual the runners got great support from the travelling members, thanks to Marcel for this photo from Ely.

Thorney RC presents £1286 To Sue Ryder

Following the cancellation due to snow of the 2013 Thorney 10k, a cheque of £1286 was presented to Nilish Patel of Sue Ryder at the 2014 event on 23rd March. This represented entry fees to last year’s cancelled race.

3k starts in Thorney Park at 9.15am.
5 mile starts in Station Road at 10.30am
Entries for both races will be accepted on the day.

Well done to Lois for winning the prize for 1st Under 10 girl at the Eye 3k on Sunday 11th May. She received her trophy at Manor Laps, where we had a total of 37 runners enjoying sunshine laps and great to see Neil and Martin down supporting, hopefully they will both be back running with us soon! And well done to Arron for winning the first 2 races but he couldn’t catch mighty Mike in the 1 lap dash for it! Thanks to Sally Debbie and Eamonn for time keeping and Eamonn for bringing very popular drinks

Sunday 18th May saw the Thorney 10k championship at Deeping. Well done to male champions Darren Ping and Eamonn Dorling and the lady champions were Sue Frisby and Bev Mason. Reg Allen might have been male vet champion if he had not stopped to have his photo taken with Marcel. That’s typical Reggie!!

Eamonn is Eastern Vets 10mile champion at the Fenland 10!. A great turn out of Thorney Runners, with Kirk Brawn first home in 67mins 30 sec, closely followed by Liam, Eamonn, Peter and Terry. Well done to Leigh and Nathalie running together and both obtaining pb’s of 90mins.

Grand Prix Race 3 UPDATE

Thorney Running Club would like to thank everybody for participating in the Grand Prix races on Wednesday 8th July. On our results page you should soon find the positions and times of the first 230 runners in the 5k, but due to problems with both our watches, we only have positions for the 3k and positions for the other runners in the 5k. Altogether we had 346 finishers in the 5k and 99 in the 3k and we hope everybody enjoyed the route and the races.
Update – We now have the 3k times on our website in the results section.
Sharon wins at the Bash!

Great running by Sharon Hodgkin to win 1st vet lady 40 at the 5 mile Bassingham Bash in Lincolnshire on 8th August. Her time of 33.40 was also a 5 mile pb and well done to Chris Hodgkin too, completing his first race for almost a year after several injuries.
